Happy National Scrapbook Day!

OK, so I know I am a day early but I to spend the weekend scrapping with some friends of mine. There is no better way to celebrate NSD don't you think? :)
.
I have been so incredibly blessed to work for some amazingly generous women over the last couple of years. I would like to pass some of these blessings along to you in honor of National Scrapbook Day. I am giving away a bunch of product from some of the awesome companies I have the privilege to design for, along with a copy of the May/June issue of Paper Crafts.
.
Here are a few of the goodies I am going to include in the give away:

.
All you need to do to win this give away is leave a comment some time before Monday morning.
.
I also have some projects to share with you in honor of National Scrapbook Day. Creative Charms has so many really pretty products. I couldn't resist using some of them on a Mother's Day card for my sweet mom.
.
.
Supplies:
Frame Ornate #3 (available in July) by Sizzix
Pink Colorbox ink by Clearsnap
Antique Linen ink by Ranger
Red cardstock by Bazzill

L has a wonderful student teacher in her classroom for the last month or so. He has been such a great influence on that class. Next week is his last week so I created this gift box for him using product from Emma's Paperie. The class has got him a 25 year Anniversary copy of Shel Silversteins A Light in the Attic that all of the children are going to sign. I will replace the book I have in the back of the box with that book. You can find all the supplies for this gift box on the Emma's Paperie blog.
.
.
.
Speaking of Emma's, make sure you stop by the Emma's blog on Saturday for Cards Throughout the Year. She is also offering an extra 15% off in the store now through Sunday if you enter the code NSD.
.
Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the give away. Hope you enjoy your weekend! Happy NSD!!!!

Christmas in April

Good morning everyone!
.
It is drizzly and overcast here today but I couldn't be happier. We had a local guy come and put in our yard a little over a week ago. We have been going out religiously every 20 minutes every night moving the sprinkler around so that the grass actually grows. I am so thankful for a break today. We saw a few shoots sticking up here and there yesterday.
.
Believe it or not, I have been working on a fair number of Christmas projects recently. The first three are projects I did for Paper Crafts that were not picked up. I will share the ones that did get picked up as soon as I can. :)
.
.
..
This next project was one of my assignments for Magistical Memories. If you read my blog often, you may remember this post, talking about our ginormous Christmas tree we had this last Christmas. Tina posted a great sketch this month for the sketch challenge. Check out all the details here. You could win some awesome chipboard!!! Anyway, I decided to use the sketch to document our Griswold tree. I covered Chipoboard Christmas Trees from Magistical Memories to replace the flower and flourish in the sketch.

.

.
I added a bit of flair to the title box by looping ribbon behind the inside piece of one of the Filigree Frames by Magistical Memories.
.
..
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!!

All sunshine and rainbows

Happy Tuesday everyone! It is another glorious, sunny day here. Lovin' all of this sunshine.
.
Just a real quick post this morning before I head off to Bible Study.
.
I wanted to share this mini album I created using the Over the Rainbow book by Magistical Memories. Lots of paint and glitter on here as well. Each member of my sweet family will have a page about how they make me happy. I hope to work on their pages at the end of the month when I go crop with friends.
.

.
Until then I have lots of assignments for Creative Charms (more great classes for kids coming soon), some NSD (National Scrapbook Day is coming soon) and finishing up a couple of goodies for Magistical Memories.
.
Have a wonderful week and I will be back soon to share some more projects with you.

Fencing

When I think of spring one of the first things that pops into my mind is gardening. Now don't let that fool you into believing that I am out digging in the dirt every glorious afternoon. Yes, I do enjoy soaking up God's gift of sunshine but I do not desire to get my fingers into the mud. Just not the way I am wired.
.
I do love flowers and beautiful landscaping though. Which is why DH and I spent all weekend outside planting trees and bushes and flowers in two of our 5 flower beds. Yes, I know that 5 flower beds seems quite excessive for someone who does not enjoy gardening. LOL Trust me these beds will be filled with lots of low maintanence plants. :)
.
Anyway, when I started thinking about what to do for this week's spring assignment for the Emma's Paperie Blog I decided I wanted to do something with gardening. The idea morphed from there, as it does often in my twisted little brain. Hence I created this spice rack using these plastic jars by Making Memories. They come in a great, sturdy box that I used as the holder for the jars. It looked too plain with just the box covered in pattern paper and so I created the fence to put on the box. I wanted to show you how to make this relatively easy and inexpensive fence for your next project.
.

.
You need to start with several popsicle sticks, the straighter the better. As you can see the ones I used for my tutorial are not all that perfect but I used all the good ones already! LOL
.
Start by using an old scissors to cut a point at one end of each of the sticks. Then cut off the rounded end at the bottom.
.
.
Sand if necessary and then paint them white.
.
.
Then wrap thin white wire around the stick and twist as shown.
.
.
Do the same with a second wire up the stick just a bit farther. Continue until your fence is the desired length.
.

.
And that is all that is to it. Easy Peesy as my girls would say. :)
.
Here are some close up shots of my project.
.
.
I created the labels on each of the jars using Microsoft Word. Simply open a new document and choose to insert a shape. Pick the circle icon and draw an oval. You can choose the different type line you would like to create by right clicking on the oval and picking Format Auto Shape from your choices. Insert text in the oval and print it out. I then cut out the oval and matted it on blue cardstock.
.

The complete supply list for this project can be found on the Emma's Paperie Blog. Have a fabulous week and thanks for stopping by!

Fabulous Flapper

Sorry I have been missing all week. I needed to take a break from my computer and scrapping for a bit to get other things back in order.
.
Last week K's class along with all the other 5th grade classes did a History of the USA musical program. I had heard her singing some of the songs but was still not prepared for how wonderful this program was going to be. She came home the day of the program with her flapper costume and so we were able to get a few pictures before she went up on stage.
.

.

.
I apologize for the picture of her on stage. It is so hard to get a good picture in that auditorium but that didn't stop me from snapping away. Each of the 5th grade classes got a chance to go up on stage while the other 5th grade classes were down in front. I got a few shots of K and her best friend during their part.
.

.
I also have a card to share with you today. Last week were given a picture of a gorgeous wreath that Anabelle found at Country Living. You can find a picture of the wreath on the Emma's Paperie Blog. We were asked to use that wreath as our color inspiration for this week's project. Here is the card I created.
.

.
Have a fabulous day and thanks so very much for stopping by!

Quite Charming

I have started working with a company by the name of Creative Charms. Have you seen their wonderful product? The have the most gorgeous vintage rhinestone brads and velvet flowers. I was fortunate enough to get a chance to meet both Michelle (the owner) and Midori (the design team coordinator) at CHA in California. What sweet women!
..
I have really enjoyed working with their product and wanted to share a few things with you today. Nicol, the marketing director, asked me to create some projects for a few summer kids' camps they will be selling. These projects are aimed towards children ages 8-12 and would be perfect for scrapbook stores looking for camps they would like to offer during the summer. If you are interested in finding out more about these kits, they will be for sale on the Creative Charms site in mid April.
.
I have to say, this assignment was a perfect fit for me. After teaching second grade for six years and then having two little girls, I enjoy this kind of thing. My first two projects used the Playtime Girl Set.
.
.

..
This next project was made using the Playtime Boy set.
.
..
Two different mini album kits will also be offered.

Thanks for stoppying by and have a fabulous Easter!
