Cards and Jedi Warriors

Happy Monday everyone!
.
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It was a VERY busy one here. Swimming was cancelled Friday night so I took K shopping to get some school clothes for cooler weather. Saturday was soccer morning (two victorious teams-woohoo) and college football on Saturday night. Tailgating was a lot of fun but I have learned an important lesson. White t-shirts are not a good idea for my girls when tailgating. They are now black from playing tackle football in the grass (well, actually it is all dirt) parking lot! :) Sunday morning after church I took L shopping for clothes. I really enjoyed spending the time with each of the girls by themselves. It gave us time to really chat and enjoy each others company. We will have to do that again soon.
.
Anyway, two weekends ago, while I was scrapbooking with friends, the girls had a Star Wars party. My sweet husband got them ready and even thought to take pictures. Isn't he awesome. K did their hair and their lightsabers were compliments of our neighbors who are apparently Star Wars fans and have the Wii game.
.
.
I have a few cards to share with you today, as well. This first card was made using some yummy Magistical Memories chipboard. I wish I had been able to capture how sparkly this card is. I cover one of the Chunky Hearts with red pattern paper. I then added glitter to a set of the Wings. I did cut them apart before adding the glitter to make sure that they fit right under the heart. If you click on the card you will see that I used grid paper for the background.
.

.
This second card was created using Melissa Phillips' awesome sketch for Emma's Paperie last week. Check out the Emma's Paperie blog for the sketch as well as a complete supply list.
.

.
One final card for you today. Just a fun baby card using some of my favorite paper scraps.
.

.
Have a fabulous week and thanks so much for stopping by!

Toga, toga, toga

Yes, this morning I wrapped myself in a toga and paraded in front of the entire teaching staff at my daughters' school. Thankfully I was with a two other moms and the principal. Sadly, I do not have a picture to share with you and have heavily bribed the mom with the camera so hopefully the pictures will NOT appear soon. LOL
.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you may remember me talking about the Read-a-thon fund raiser that our school does. It is an amazing production, including a book fashion show the day of kick-off, cool incentives and ways of tracking to keep the kids motivated (that is my part) and lots of other fun. The fund raiser doesn't start until Oct. 1 but we presented the program to the teachers this morning. The reason for the toga? Our themes at the schools this year (there are 2 schools in our PTO-a primary school and an elementary school) are Percy Jackson and the Magic School Bus.
.

That is the reason I have been MIA. My sweet friend Amanda and I have been spending every day at the school. We have literally been walking our girls into school and staying until school is out. Monday we didn't leave until 5:30. Things are not done yet but they are coming along and hopefully I will not have to spend quite that much time there next week.
.

I do have a project to share with you today.

.
I covered a chipboard star from Magistical Memories with some pattern paper. I also created the banner by cutting the points off another chipboard star from Magistical Memories. The gorgeous bling in the banner is created using Clear Pure Blossoms from Creative Charms. I also added some of Gradient Gem Stickers to the photo mat.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic day!!!

Welcome Neighbor

Happy Monday everyone!!!
.
OK, so maybe I am not quite THAT chipper this morning. Truth be told, I am exhausted. But it is a good exhausted. I spent the weekend scrapbooking with friends. We stayed up WAY to late for this old body though. I did manage to get 7 cards and a layout done though. That is pretty good considering we also do a lot of talking. LOL I will be able to share some of my projects with you soon.
.
Speaking of crafting have you checked out this month's issue of Crafts N' Things? If you sign up for their newsletter you can even gain access to a whole bunch of free stuff on their site. I have to say, I am loving this issue. All the adorable owls and Halloween stuff has definitely got me in the mood for Halloween already. There are several projects in there that I am dying to try, not to mention the Christmas ideas they have included. I need to start thinking about Christmas ideas and get a jump start on those. The holidays always seem to sneak up on me.
.

.
I have a project I wanted to share with you as well today. I have mentioned before that we live in a new neighborhood. As I type there are workers across the road installing drywall into a brand new home. We had an empty lot next to us until a few of months ago. As of three weeks ago we now have new neighbors. I was talking to them last weekend and she mentioned that she has a hard time keeping track of everyone's names. I shared with her how whenever we move to a new neighborhood, I keep a little notebook with everyone's names. This got me to thinking about the perfect welcome gift. This is what I came up with.
.

.
1. I simply took a journal that I found at Michael's in their Dollar spot and covered it with some of my favorite October Afternoon paper.
2. I then ran one of the cute fences from Magistical Memories through my Sizzix machine using one of the textured templates by Tim Holtz. Man, do I love those things!
3. I then painted it and created the little house to place behind it. The sun is simply the center of the Nesting Circles from Magistical Memories that I painted yellow and added buttons.
4. The cloud was created by printing the sentiment on white cardstock. I lightly drew in the cloud around the sentiment with a pencil and cut it out.
5. I then I embellished it with a few flowers.
.
After I was done I added neighbor's names and addresses to the inside along with their children's names so she could keep everyone straight. Hopefully that will help them feel welcome.
.
Have a fabulous day everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Doing a Happy Dance

Hi everyone!!!
.
So this morning I ended my post saying that I was going on scrapbook retreat and talked as if you weren't going to hear from me again until after a wonderfully relaxing weekend. BUT that was before I got two incredible e-mails.
. .
Check out my sidebar. Do you see it over there? The cute little pink button with the words Crafts N Things Design Team on it. How insanely cool is that???? I can't tell you how much I love working with the fabulous editors over there and just love seeing that magazine in my mailbox.
.
So as if that wasn't enough to make me smile from ear to ear, I then get an e-mail from Glue Dots tonight letting me know that I made the Glue Dots Design Team! Woohoo! Are you kidding? My absolute favorite adhesive in the world and I get to design for them? I am in heaven. Check out the amazing women I get to work with on the Glue Dots Blog.
.

.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!!!!

Color and Texture

Morning everyone!
.
Today's post is based on two of my favorite things about paper crafting. If you look through my work it will come as no surprise to you that I absolutely love adding texture and dimension. I will fully admit that the trend toward chunky pages, however hard to fit in albums, makes me very happy. It was my turn today to post over on the Magistical Memories blog and my post is about just that. Adding texture to your projects. Here is a small peek of my project I made. You can check it out here.
.
.
Another thing that I am loving lately are all of the color challenges. Color can make such a difference on the look of a project. Last week I created the card below for the color challenge over at Emma's Paperie. Head over there to see the photo inspiration along with a list of supplies for my card.
.
.
I am off for a girls weekend with some sweet scrapbooking friends of mine. Can't wait to spend the weekend staying up late scrapbooking, sleeping in, and spending time with friends. Hope your weekend is just as fun and relaxing. Thanks for stopping by!

The End of a Wonderful Weekend

Hi everyone!
.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I have to say, having your birthday fall right before a long weekend definitely has its advantages. :) As part of my gift the girls gave me coupons. One of them was for shopping without complaining. I had no problem taking them up on that one. I have been wanting a table for our living room for quite some time. I finally got a chance to look for one on Saturday. We didn't find exactly what we wanted but it did help me get an idea of what I was looking for. We came home and did some more searching. I found this gorgeous piece.
.

.
But as luck would have it, I can't find a single store that even carries any of the pieces from this line. It is absolutely beautiful on-line, but I am not sure I am comfortable ordering something like this without seeing it. I plan on making calls to Chicago today. I am always looking for a reason to make a trip to Chicago. :)
.
Yesterday consisted of yard work (we are slowly adding to our landscape) and then a cook out with some of the neighbors. The girls literally got out of their pj's and headed out to play with the neighbor girls and didn't leave their sides (including lunch or dinner-the cookout) until bedtime. They were happy campers. :)
.
I have a project to share for you today. I created this card and gift box for a Bo Bunny product spotlight over at Emma's Paperie last week. You can find all the supplies along with the other designers projects here.
.

.
It promises to be another beautiful day here in Indiana. Off for my morning walk with my sweet friend Amanda and then I hope to get some scrappin' done. Hope your day is sunny and perfect. Take care everyone!

Vintage Goodies

Morning everyone!
.
It has been a while since I shared any of my published work. I really wanted to share the cards I created for the Card Style special issue for Paper Crafts Magazine. This issue is amazing and I can't tell you how proud I am to be a part of such a wonderful assortment of designers.
.
.
Truthfully my card style is all over the board. This magazine covers a lot of different styles from Fun & Cute to Classy & Elegant. But when Susan and Cath contacted me and asked me to make some vintage style cards for this issue I was thrilled. I really do love making this style of card. I can't help but load gobs of product on my projects and this style suits me well.
.
Here are the four cards I did for this issue.

This issue is seriously one of my favorites from Paper Crafts, loaded with amazing cards from some insanely talented card makers. If you are interested in picking up a copy of this issue you can find it here.
.
Keep your eye out for another really cool special issue coming from Paper Crafts soon. Thans so much for stopping by my blog today and I hope your holiday weekend is fabulous!
