Two hours later

That is when I woke up from my nap! I got up this morning with a pounding head and feeling quite miserable. So after the girls got on the bus I laid down on the sofa and slept. I do have to admit I feel much better. The remnants of the headache are still here but more Motrin seems to be helping. I really don't know how migraine sufferers do it. WOW. My heart goes out to all of you.

Anyway, I did want to share a card I made last night. My sweet friend Mary let me drag her around town last week looking for goodies at antique shops and resale stores.

I was so excited when I found this butterfly at Good Will in their jewelry case. It was attached to a pony tie holder and they were charging a whole 99 cents for it. Can you believe that? I also found the buttons in a big huge discount bin at a local quilting store. It was so much fun to just dig through that bin of buttons looking for treasures.

Sweet, sweet Audrey gave me this award yesterday. Have you seen Audrey's blog? She is an amazing artist. You have to check it out!

Now I need to give this award away to five friends. Can I just say that there are WAY more people to give this award to than 5! So, by no means are these 5 the only ones I could list.

1. Betsy-her work is stunning and she is as sweet as she is talented
2. Hilary-Another amazingly talented lady that I have been so lucky to work
3. Melissa- OK so I know she gets 5 gazillion of these awards because she is so insanely talented and one of the sweetest people I know. So how could I pass her up?
4. Lisa-she is not only very talented, she makes me laugh with every post she writes
5. Roree-This woman can do cards like no other. So thankful to have become friends with her!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving. I hope you have time to spend with all your loved ones.

Hugs,
Lisa

Dreary Monday

Bleckkkk, it is raining and wet. That is not going to be able to get me down today though! I am so excited. I get to go meet a new scrapping friend for lunch and a little shopping.

I have a quick card I want to share and then I am off to go walk. I created this card using a chipboard owl from Magistical Memories. He comes with that cool scallop and the branch. I simply turned him upside down. I created his feathers by cutting up some paper flowers from Making Memories and inking the edges. I then layered them on the lower part of his body. I added the crystals around the outside to give him a little bit of bling (because EVERYONE needs bling!) and then gave him some googly eyes for fun.

Have a fabulous Monday!

Birthdays

What happens to us as we get older? Why do we decide that birthdays are so terrible and dreaded? I mean we are going to get older anyway. Birthdays are supposed to be a day to celebrate the wonderful people God has put in our lives no matter how old or young they are. I started to think about this because Saturday is DH's birthday and my youngest can hardly contain herself. It is so cute. She has declared that Saturday is Daddy's day and was quite upset at the thought that she would have to go to gymnastics practice for part of his day. Keep in mind this is the same child that Wednesday, on the way back home from practice said, "Only three more days until I get to have gymnastics again!" I want to have that innocent excitement about birthdays again. I tell you, some of the best lessons I learn are from my girls. Love them!

I have another project to share with you. I did this layout using a bunch of Magistical Memories Chipboard and lots of yummy papers. Don't know what I would do without pattern paper. LOL

The background paper is actually some Halloween paper from Creative Imaginations. I just loved the pattern and had to use it. The bottom strip of paper is tan cardstock that I fringed to mimic the indian girl's dress.

The pilgrim and indian are called Potty People from Magistical Memories. They come in a set of about six with two large and four small people. These two large were holding hands so I cut them apart. I am not sure if you can see from the picture but I inked and then fringed the indian's clothes. The leaf also comes from Magistical Memories. I cut pp to fit, sanded it a bit, inked it and then applied UTEE. I put it in the freezer for just a couple of minutes and then cracked the UTEE.

Hope you enjoy your weekend. We will be celebrating. :)

Thankful for You

I am so thankful for all of the sweet people that are in my life. I am so blessed with an amazing family and wonderful friends (those of you who I know in real life and those of you that I have yet to meet in person). I am free to worship my God without any fear of harm. I have food on the table and clothes to wear. I am thankful to do what I love and still have time to have lunch with my kids. Life is good!

I wanted to share another Magistical Memories project I made. They have the most amazing selection of chipboard and I have been fortunate enough to be able to play with some of it the last week or so. I created this little ornament using their Shining So Brightly Star. I wish the picture did it justice.

The front of the star is painted white and then covered with glitter. Then I decided that I couldn't just leave the back bare and that is when I got carried away! LOL I dry brushed the edges white and then added this awesome little frame by Melissa Frances. The little angel inside and the Count your blessings tag are also from Melissa France from the thankful kit. I added a bit of red velvet trim, some buttons, a glitter flower and a pearl bead. I am thinking this ornament will look fabulous on someone's Christmas gift this year.

Thank you for stopping by. I truly do love that you took the time to check out my blog!

Lisa

Sew ready for Christmas

Happy Wednesday! It is hard to believe we are already half way to another weekend isn't it? I only have a few minutes to post. I get to go help out with a class of sweet second graders today. :)

It was project day again yesterday at Emma's. We were asked to make a Christmas project that included sewing and I had so much fun with this one! I made a mini album for my mom along with a decorated box to hold it. Each page has a picture that goes along with a different Christmas Carol.

I machine stitched the different sections of the tree and then distressed the the edges.

I also used floss on the cover to stitch the lace ribbon to the outside of the box. I really like this idea because I love putting ribbon around the edges of boxes but have a problem keeping it around the outside edges without it falling off. Although it was a little time consuming it wasn't bad and I love the way it looks.

This is the first page of the book which sits inside the box.

More stitching here. I stitched the pom pom ribbon to the page using floss. I also machine stitched the cardstock sticker to the mat.

Couple more pages.

There are actually two more pages but I don't pictures yet. There are lots and lots of goodies on here all from Emma's Paperie. You can check out the blog for a list of supplies I used and to see the other amazing projects everyone did. Seriously, they are jaw dropping! Wow!

Thanks for taking a peek and have an amazing day!

Boardgames and Bling

Morning all!

Hope you had a wonderful day yesterday. I definitely did. I got a chance to sit down and play with some yummy Magistical Memories chipboard. Can I just tell you that I love this stuff! I made a this cute little name plate for Katie using the two largest brackets in the fancy frames pack.

I covered both of the pieces with patterned paper and then distressed the edges with a file and white paint. I also used one of the butterflies from the Flutterby packet. After covering it with paper I added stickles to the pattern paper to give is a little extra bling.

The girls have been playing so many boardgames lately and I have to tell you I am loving it. Don't get me wrong, it is sweet watching them play American Girls and I even enjoy playing the mom or teacher once in a while. I do love sitting down and playing a game with them a tad bit more. Did you see that Toys R Us had a bunch of their board games on sale for $9? What a steal! This was last week but you might want to check it out and see if they are still on sale. My mom got the girls Sorry (to replace ours that was mine as a kid and falling a part) and she also got Life. K has Life on her DS so I know that one will be a hit. I have to admit, Life is one of my favorite games too. I think we are going to get this game too. She loves the I Spy books so I think it will be perfect.

What about you? What board games do you just love?
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a fabulous week!

Baby it's cold outside!

Brrrr....WOW it got wicked fast! The wind outside is frigid. Such a perfect day to stay inside. :) Nothing on my plate for today except a walk with a good friend and then home to my cozy room to create. :) Have some fun things to work on today and hopefully I can share some with you tomorrow!
Did you all have a great weekend? DH and I got to go see the Colts game with a friend. It was such an awesome game-lots of scoring and excitement. I am so happy to see our boys back playing a little bit better. I just wish we would have had time to tailgate with our friends.

I do have a sketch layout I would like to share with you today. I used the November Lime Tart kit and sketch for this layout. I will share the sketch with you later when I figure out why it won't load.
Have a fabulous Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Rainy Days and crafts

For whatever reason rainy days make me feel rather creative. Sadly, I have had no time to do anything crafty today. I did get to go to a couple of antique stores with my sweet friend Mary. I have to admit, I am not a real antique type person but I had so much fun browsing through these places. I did find some fabulous vintage images that I am just dying to use on cards.

I wanted to share a couple projects with you from my Lime Tart kit this month. I got to play with the Ala Tart kit which included some of the fabulous Christmas papers from Fancy Pants.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's Starting to feel like Christmas

I am definitely starting to get in the mood for Christmas. Cindy has us working on a Christmas theme project for Emma's Paperie this week and I am having so much fun with this one. OK, so maybe I always have fun with her assignments but his one is changing my whole frame of thought. DH and I sat down last night and started on our Christmas lists. I am ready! :)

Have you ever looked back on the day and wondered what you did all day? It happens to me all the time. I decided a couple of days ago to take my camera with me as I picked up all the little things laying around the house. I love these pictures! They are such a great snapshot of our family, especially the girls, because of course their things seem to be left on the floor more often.
These pajama pants make me think of K and her swimming. I bought her a bunch of pajama pants to wear to swim practice. She gets done so late that some of the girls wear their pajamas to practice so they can go straight to bed when they get home.

This Minnie doll just so L. She is a stuffed animal collector. She has so many in her bed I really don't know how she has room to sleep. She got birthday money when we went to Disney two summers ago and no one was suprised that she left the store with a stuffed Minnie.
Speaking of stuffed animals this one makes me laugh. He's not so cute is he? This is the stuffed animal that K is sleeping with lately. She is definitely not your ordinary girly girl. LOL This is the same girl who "saves" worms from getting crushed under the garage door when it is raining. Love this quirky side of her personality. :)
L's gymnastic team leotard. Need I say more? LOL
I love this little guy too. He is an eraser that K got from school for good behavior. She adores it. I think it is more that she got recognized for her great behavior than him. I love that both the girls' teacher take special effort to recognize good behavior. I am so proud of the girls.
OK, so this one is mine. My cousin made this afghan for me when DH and I got married. Isn't it gorgeous? I use it CONSTANTLY. DH definitely needs to turn up the heat! :)

Pollys...still a favorite in our house after all these years!
Well, and this guy...he just makes me smile!

Have an amazing day!
Hugs,
Lisa

Happy, happy Tuesday!

I spent the last two days creating all my projects with the yummy Lime Tart kit (I should be able to share later on this week) and now my house needs some serious cleaning. I love to listen to my ipod while cleaning but I need some new upbeat music. I love listening to oldies like Prince, the Bee Gees, and K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Really, I am not kidding. LOL So anyone have any suggestions of some new music I can download?

Have you been to Emma's Paperie yet? The projects this week are amazing once again! Cindy asked us to use the color butternut in a card or project and I have to admit that I wasn't sure about this one but now I am addicted! :) I have since made another card and a layout using this wonderful color. Here is the card I created for the challenge. I absolutely love all the Jenni Bowlin stuff that Cindy carries in the store and this ledger paper is one of my favorites. I used that as the inspiration for my card.

I created the tag by stamping the outline and then using some Fancy Pants rub-ons. Then I just ran it through my printer for the sentiment. The green paper is from Graphic 45. I love the back of this paper too and it was VERY hard for me to cut up. Links to all supplies are listed on the Emma's blog if you are looking for specifics.

Thanks for checking in this morning and have a fabulous day!

Lisa

Happy Veteran's Day

I want to wish a Happy Veteran's Day to everyone who serves or has served in the military or is married to a soldier. Without them we wouldn't have this great country to call home.

Well, I knew it was going to busy weekend but man, it wore me out! It was so wonderful though. Both the girls did a fabulous job at their meets. Lauren had a little trouble on the bars and beam this meet but she knocked it out of the park on the vault and walked out with her first gold medal! Katie was just as successful. Although she was upset about getting disqualified on the breast stroke she did fabulous on both the back stroke and freestyle. She knocked 18 seconds off her previous freestyle time! I am so proud of both of them, not because of their success but because of their dedication, effort and amazing sportsmanship.

The visit with my parents was so nice but way too short. They didn't end up getting in until midnight. We had to be up 5:45 in order to get to Lauren's meet. I know they were just exhausted and everyone hit the sack pretty early on Saturday night so I didn't get to spend much time catching up. My mom, sister and I did get to do a little Christmas shopping on Sunday before they went home.

Oh...speaking of being busy, I got my Lime Tart kit on Friday and have been busy creating. The kit is absolutely fabulous. I got the Ala Tarte this month. I just love all the amazing Fancy Pants papers, the ribbon and rub-ons in this kit. YUM-O. The other two kits look awesome too. I wish I could share with you but I have to keep it under wraps for a few more days. How about a litte sneak instead?

Don't forget you can order the kits through Odd Bird Planet if you are in the US.
Well, I have a few more projects I want to get done. Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by.

It's Friday!!!

Busy day ahead spending time with kiddos at the school and getting ready for my parents to come. Still have to finish bathrooms...bleckkkkk. But I wanted to pop in real quick and share a quick card I made last night for a friend of mine.

She is the most generous person I have ever met and I was sad to hear this weekend that her grandmother passed away. This woman raised her from the time she was young. One important thing this friend taught me is to never underestimate what a kind word and a little charity can do to change a life.

Anyway, sorry about the crummy picture. Had to take it early this morning before I got it in the mail. I used another one of the awesome sketches over at the CPS blog.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Lisa

MIA

Sorry I have been missing in action lately. I have been feeling a bit out of sorts lately and really need to get myself back on track. I haven't been doing much scrapping, just lots of other things going on.
I am so excited that my parents are coming to visit this weekend. L has her gymnastics meet at 8 am and K's swim meet is at noon. My parents thought it would be the perfect time for them to see them perform. It is going to be a little rushed and busy but I am sure we are going to have a great time.

I don't have anything new but I thought I would share a layout that was in Memory Makers not too long ago in honor of my parents coming to visit. My mom is just the sweetest and I admire her in so many ways.

Hope you have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping in.

Oh What a Glorious Weekend

I can't believe we had 70 degree weather this weekend. It was gorgeous. Lots of play time outside, Colts game on Sunday night and no scrappin' but I am one happy chica. I just love starting a week after a weekend like this. Everything feels right with the world.

I do have some photos to share with you of the girls decorating their cute little haunted houses. I really need to get better pictures of the finished houses. Too much flash on these.

Have a fabulous week and thank you so much for stopping by!

Lisa
